Veritone and Nuance partner to enable data mining of audio

5 MIN READ

Cloud-based cognitive computing solutions company, Veritone, has partnered with Nuance, the provider of voice and language solutions to incorporate Nuance Transcription Engine (NTE) with Veritone’s cloud-based, hosted Cognitive Media Platfrom (CMP). The NTE is a powerful, fast and accurate engine that can quickly transforms massive amounts of recorded audio into actionable assets, across a wide range of industries. Veritone is providing an open ecosystem for developers, businesses and content owners to collaborate and effectively monetize the insights gained by programmatic cognitive analysis of audio and video.

The company’s CMP is an open cloud ecosystem of cognitive tools to harness the power of media. In near real time, audio and video streams can be analyzed to create actionable insights that were heretofore unimaginable. Industry leading organizations leverage the platform to create new revenue opportunities, improve security, enhance customer care and streamline education. Nuance joins Veritone’s growing set of partners that includes providers of cognitive engines such as sentiment extraction, tonal analysis, facial and object recognition and more. The addition of NTE will enhance the efficiency and overall capabilities of Veritone’s cognitive platform by adding highly accurate transcription.

Robert Weideman, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Nuance Enterprise, Nuance, says:

“We believe in the power of intelligent systems and in Veritone’s innovative approach to applying such intelligence to global media. Veritone is at the forefront of bringing market-driven solutions to key verticals, accelerating the extensibility and democratization of media. Through this partnership, we will be able to unlock new capabilities and broaden the reach of our technology across Veritone’s rapidly growing customer base.”

How will Nuance leverage the partnership?

Nuance’s proven transcription technology, deployed within Veritone’s large scale cloud environment and combined with Veritone’s unique, specialized training data sets, enhances Veritone’s capabilities for deeper learning and improves overall performance and accuracy of the CMP engines. The engine will be accessible to Veritone’s clients with its ecosystem of millions of hours of audio and video content.

The company claims that as Veritone expands into various vertical markets, its CMP will benefit from the additional specialized market expertise that Nuance has. As a voice and language solutions provider with a foothold in financial services, telecommunications, government, and healthcare, Nuance will be enhancing Veritone’s CMP for new markets. Veritone will be able to bring efficiency and accuracy within their vertical market expansion into financial services, legal, law enforcement and security.

“Our mission to transform the world’s media into actionable intelligence is a simple notion with profound implications. Our goal is to offer businesses a solution that will analyze media through various cognitive engines in near-real time to enable better decision-making and advanced business intelligence while providing unique monetization opportunities to partners and developers. We are thrilled to work with Nuance as we continue to expand our ecosystem to include the most advanced cognitive tools available today and into the future,” says Chad Steelberg, Chief Executive Officer, Veritone.

Nuance supports 15 languages and 30 dialects as a part of its speech recognition and is trained to recognize specific industry and regional terms, proper nouns and brand names. Both the companies will be able to achieve significant improvement in transcription accuracy when applied to global media.
