California-based Actiance, a compliance and eDiscovery platform that provides communication, collaboration and social media governance solutions for the enterprises, has announced an improved Actiance Socialite support for Instagram. It guarantees that the enterprises using Instagram as a communication tool, meet compliance mandates.
How does it work?
Actiance Socialite allows enterprises to capture social media posts in context and retain data, including the images, for instant search and retrieval. According to Actiance, companies are now making use of Instagram to have customer participation, brand building, and to communicate with employees in order to monitor, store and produce analytics for Instagram posts, images and comments.
Actiance claims that with Socialite, the organization can make sure that it has the security, governance, and compliance it requires for its employees to share and engage on social networks. It automatically captures social media in context, Including LinkedIn, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google+. Moreover, it claims to enable access control to features on social media sites, providing approval workflows for moderated posts, comments and Profile edits.
Joanna Belbey, Social Media and Compliance Specialist, Actiance, said:
Forward-thinking companies are increasingly using Instagram and other social channels to connect with digital audiences. Yet as they do so, they must remain compliant with data preservation and social media endorsement regulations. Actiance Socialite makes it easy for companies to support new channels, such as Instagram, as they enter the enterprise and make the most of their communications data for both regulatory and business purposes.
Accordingto the company, the businesses are turning towards Instagram for building brand awareness, connecting to customers as well as opportunities. According to a blogpost in globalwebindex, half of all Instagram users follow a brand and 60 percent of users learn about products and services via the mobile application.
Compliance & Instagram as a business tool
Instagram recently launched a tool specifically for businesses which want to stand out and avail insights on the platform. Actiance states that companies adopting Instagram and other social channels must acknowledge that these channels are visible and subject to regulatory scrutiny. For example, regulatory bodies classify Instagram posts as advertisements and exchanged comments as business records.
The company also explains that similar to traditional channels like email, failure to follow compliance regulations on social media, such as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Rule 17a4 which dictates how information must be preserved on electronic media, can lead to injunctions, fines, and costly lawsuits.
Actiance Socialite claims to create and download Instagram images and comments for preservation so companies can provide proof of supervision in the event of audits, monitor Instagram activity for governance and policy enforcement, and create analytics using captured Instagram activities.
