Construction management s/w company AproPLAN raises $5.6M in Series A

Brussels-based construction management software company, AproPLAN has raised €5 million (approximately $5.58 million) in Series A funding round led by Fortino Capital, according to a Techcrunch report. Existing investors including Inventures, Matexi, and the co-founders of Showpad: Pieterjan Bouten, Louis Jonckheere, and Peter Minne, the report said. AproPLAN was launched in 2012 by Paul de Gheldere, Renauld Lacroix, Frédéric Salvé, Jean-Philippe Cardoso and Thomas Goubau. It provides technology services to the construction industry — be it the first drawing or the project handover, and is targeted at the usual suspects — architects, contractors, engineers and clients. It offers a unified space for communication, allowing all sides to share documents, notes, messages and tasks easily; and can be accessed on the PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad. According to the report, the fresh funds will be used to further AproPLAN’s marketing and sales capabilities and to develop new features to improve the on-site experience for the construction workers. Quoting a report by Software Advice, a homebuilding software consultancy, company blog states that 50% of SMBs in the construction industry still use manual methods to calculate takeoff, prepare bids, and manage projects. AproPLAN sees a huge potential in digitalizing the construction industry. It competes with players like PlanGrid and GenieBelt.
