E2open acquires Orchestro to double Demand Sensing portfolio

Supply chain management software (SCMS) provider, E2open, has acquired Maryland-based Orchestro that develops Software-as-a-Service based analytics platform (demand signal management and preemptive analytics) for retail and order fulfilment. The combination claims to deliver the world’s only demand-driven Supply Chain Operating Network. However, the purchase price and the terms of the acquisition have not surfaced yet. This deal aims at accentuating E2opens’s data management, visibility and analytics solution offerings by leveraging Orchestro built software for Point-of-Sale (POS) data integration. It also includes internal Enterprise Resource Planning and integration of third party data to manage shelf availability, track promotion effectiveness and handle new product introductions. This comes after the purchase of Terra Technology and its Demand Sensing solutions in the acquisition timeline of E2open. It was acquired on 7th March, 2016 to further the prospects for brand owners and their retail partners and aid them with analytics tool for market forecasts and accuracy. Michael Farlekas, CEO, E2open, says:
“ERP systems were not designed to address the complexities of multi-enterprise supply chains. Manufacturers are accelerating their use of trading partners for manufacturing, distribution, and transportation. E2open’s solutions allow the best-run supply chains to thrive within today’s vastly more complex operating environment. With the addition of Terra Technology and Orchestro, E2open is the only company that can provide true end-to-end planning, collaboration and execution, from raw materials to final delivery to the consumer.”
“Our recent acquisition of Terra Technology allowed us to help our clients sense demand across the network. With the addition of Orchestro, we will leverage daily, store-item data to create the world’s only demand-driven Supply Chain Operating Network,” adds Farlekas.
PV Boccasam, CEO, Orchestro, says “Orchestro’s vision was to leverage Big Data to make big decisions in the retail and consumer packaged goods supply chain. We can now combine one true demand signal with Demand Sensing technologies to enable manufacturers to become pro-active in preventing out of stocks, provide actionable insight from source to shelf, and preempt expensive disruptions in the supply chain.”
E2open was founded in 2000 and it claims to have raised $70.3 million. In today’s market, it serves its supply chain operating network in competition from companies like GT Nexus, Kinaxis, Steelwedge and One Network Enterprises. Sridhar Tayur, Orchestro Board Member and CEO of OrganJet believes that the combination of E2open, Terra Technology and Orchestro becomes the foundation for transformative next-generation predictive analytics necessary for best-in-class 21st Century omni-channel demand fulfilment.
