Glispa acquires Avocarrot to ramp up native advertising business

Glispa Global Group, the mobile marketing ad tech company, announced the acquisition of Avocarrot to further bolster its native advertising monetization business for app developers. Based in San Francisco and Athens, Avocarrot is a native advertising Supply-Side Platform (SSP) leveraging programmatic advertising and Real-Time-Bidding (RTB) technologies to help automate the buying and selling of mobile advertising.

Compliments both Glispa’s user acquisition and monetization business

The acquisition, according to Glispa, will benefit its advertisers (demand-partners), as it immediately offers an additional channel for a programmatic marketplace. The combination of assets would also complement Glispa’s native advertising monetization focus for app developers. “Avocarrot brings immediate value to Glispa Global Group and together we’re offering one of the top independent, native advertising solutions on the market today,” said Gary Lin, Founder and CEO, Glispa Global Group.
“With two acquisitions this year and the launch of the Ampiri native ad mediation platform, we’re solidly positioned to drive monetization for app developers and help them reach their full revenue potential,” Lin added.
Avocarrot has also revealed plans to integrate with Glispa’s Ampiri Mediation platform to monetize app inventory via both programmatic and non-programmatic allocation in a single platform. Avocarrot, combined with Glispa’s Ampiri native advertising monetization platform, would bring:
  • A Real-Time Bidding (RTB) exchange that allows media buyers, trading desks and Demand Side Partners (DSPs) to buy native ad inventory via programmatic direct, private marketplace and open auction
  • More than 50 leading DSPs and leading ad networks together globally, with the widest possible reach to native programmatic demand
  • An ad server that app developers and publishers can use to launch direct advertising campaigns or cross promotions of their own products
  • Four Avocarrot technical founders, including Conno Christou, Georgios Makkoulis, Giorgos Eracleous, Panagiotis Papageorgiou as well as 14 additional engineers with a demonstrated expertise in programmatic native advertising in ad tech to join the Ampiri team of engineers and data scientists.
“Together Glispa and Avocarrot have a distinct competitive advantage offering massive global scale for truly independent native advertising traffic. Most mobile monetization companies focus either on programmatic advertising or on ad mediation and we’ve now strategically combined both in the most seamless way,” said Freddy Friedman, Chief Product Officer, Glispa Global Group.
Avocarrot claims that its programmatic exchange will soon integrate with Ampiri with a single user interface, a single SDK, and a combined integration of ad-networks and DSPs, all on the same platform. The advertising company believes that integration with the Glispa Audience Platform will provide valuable user insights for profiling for increasing revenue.
“Glispa’s strong advertising footprint across 187 countries and our leading technology in programmatic native monetization provides tremendous value for our existing and future app partners. We couldn’t be more excited to join forces with Glispa,” said Conno Christou, Co-founder, Avocarrot.
