With IT being challenged to react faster to growing customer demands, Red Hat adopted a path to transformation and it saw a way with OpenStack and Red Hat Cloud Suite, breaking away from its sole reliance on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The announcement comes a week ahead of the next OpenStack Summit in Austin.
Red Hat delivers its technology solutions to customers in two ways: offering commercial products for demanding environments, and sponsoring freely available open source projects. Being an expert at collaboration, Red Hat enables developing new technology, addressing common problems, and shares the benefits with its customers and partners.
A quick way to build apps for your business needs
The hybrid cloud is a fully open source solution for enterprises that combines a container-based app-development platform, private-cloud infrastructure, public-cloud inter-operability, and a common management framework.
“In our view, open, hybrid technology is the future of IT. The operating system for the cloud is open source. Hybrid IT is a reality in every organization, and ultimately, open technology provides control over the trends of today as well as the future,” says Rajesh Rege, Managing Director, Red Hat India.
Red Hat Cloud Suite is designed to modernize the infrastructure so developers can build services and deliver them to customers and your organization fast. In this way, IT can retain control and manage the environment from one place.
OpenStack to enhance cloud performance
To cope up with the requirements of their end users, IT organizations are shifting gears to access Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) private clouds for their ability to swiftly deploy and scale IT infrastructure. This is where OpenStack cloud comes to the rescue by standing up to the demands of a production-scale environment ensuring strict security standards.
Red Hat OpenStack is based on OpenStack Liberty, making improvements over its latest release called Mitaka. In its new version, a rhetorical problem of manageability was addressed, with upgrades around storage, networking and compute. Furthermore, it catered to the needs of its largest clientele- telcos that plan to integrate OpenStack — a raging market from where Red Hat hopes to garner high profits.
“A lot of customers have existing infrastructure and applications. We straddle both worlds with RHEL, while Red Hat cloud infrastructure [tools] allows them to take existing infrastructure and optimize and run infrastructure more efficiently through [our] control panel and management [tools],” James Labocki, product owner, Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure explained.
As companies ignite a mass transformation adopting cloud computing, Red Hat hopes to be a prominent caterer of services with RHEL on one side and OpenStack on the other. In more ways than one, Red Hat is slowly inducing the changes with transformations in the enterprise environment. A brisk move!
