X1 Distributed Discovery: New search engine for enterprise big data

3 MIN READ

Moving beyond desktop search, X1 has announced the release of its enterprise based big data search tool — X1 Distributed Discovery (X1DD).

X1DD can search across desktops, laptops, servers, or even the Cloud; and has the capability to look for any kind of data — emails, files, attachments, or any other information.

“Enterprise eDiscovery collection remains a significant pain point, subjecting organizations to both substantial cost and risk,” said John Patzakis, Executive Chairman of X1.

“X1 Distributed Discovery provides immediate visibility into distributed data across global enterprises within minutes instead of today’s standard of weeks, and even months. This game-changing capability vastly reduces costs while greatly mitigating risk and disruption to operations.”

Legal and compliance teams can easily perform unified complex searches across unstructured content, metadata, or both and obtain full results instantly.

In addition to eDiscovery, X1DD supports internal audit and investigations, data migration, defensible deletion, and business intelligence use cases.

X1’s flagship product has been X1 Search, a “premium” alternative for Windows Desktop and Outlook Search. It also comes with a Virtual Edition, that works in Virtual Desktop Infrastructures.

Other products from the company targeted at enterprises include X1 Rapid Discovery, which can be deployed in virtual environments, and X1 Social Discovery, which is targeted at computer forensics professionals.

The company also brought its technology to smartphones with the launch of X1 Search Mobile in August last year.

Formed in 2003, the Pasadena-based enterprise search company raised $2.2 million in March 2014, with incubator, Idealab being the lead investor.
