Good Technology extends enterprise email & browser solution to Windows

4 MIN READ

Good Work and Good Access, enterprise mobility management focused email client and browser, will now be available on Windows 8.1 and later too.

While Good Work is an enterprise-focused email and calender client for mobile devices, Good Access is a secure browser that enables mobile business users to securely access corporate intranets and web applications using their device of choice, allowing IT managers to maintain a high level of security and compliance.

Good Technology, the Sunnyvale, California, headquartered company (Blackberry is acquiring Good technology), behind the apps, said in a statement that as the line between laptops and tablets blurs, particularly after the recent release of Windows 10, enterprises are looking to extend enterprise mobility management solutions across multiple platforms and on many types of devices – mobile, tablet and laptops.

Earlier, in September, BlackBerry announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Good Technology for $425 million in cash. BlackBerry is expecting the transaction to be completed towards the end of the company’s 2016 fiscal third quarter.

According to Christy Wyatt, Chairman and CEO at Good Technology:

“Good is enabling the next generation of application security and management for a new generation of Windows products, enabling end users to work on any device at any time with the same level of security and simplicity they experience on their mobile devices today.”

Good Technology hopes to address challenges thrown in by BYOD policies, providing a safe and secure environment for employees.

Good Access for Windows also provides a secure environment for deployment of HTML5 apps. Good Access secures corporate web apps in containers, ensuring data never leaves enterprise control while providing a rich user experience including the first HTML5 offline access in a secure browser for Windows.

IT can confidently enable access to a broad range of web apps and more quickly develop additional apps knowing that corporate data will be secure.

While Good Access for Windows is available in beta immediately, Good Work for Windows will be available in beta later this year.

BlackBerry is anticipating to realize approximately $160 million in GAAP revenue from Good in the first year, including the impact of an expected write-down of certain deferred revenue of Good.
