Ionic raises $45M, collaborates with AWS

5 MIN READ

Atlanta based Ionic Security which assures control and protection of data, has raised $45 million in the growth funding round. The company has also invited Amazon, Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) and Hayman Capital on board as equity holders. This funding round brings about $122 million for Ionic. The funds will be used to bolster the global adoption of the Ionic platform beyond the Fortune 100.

Along with the growth funding round, Ionic has also announced its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in order to cater its hybrid- High assurance global data control and protection services through AWS which is considered as industry’s most secure infrastructure platform.

Adam Ghetti, CEO and founder of Ionic Security stated, “Ionic’s goal is to make the world a safer place by ensuring all data can be secure, private and easily managed throughout the entire data lifecycle regardless of its location. Our collaboration with AWS will enable customers to achieve remote trust, even for the most sensitive of data. The services we will offer in AWS Marketplace help ensure data is secure and private as it travels to, through and departs from the AWS global infrastructure.”

Ghetti further adds that the most exciting element will be the ability to deliver these services at web scale with a breathtakingly easy provisioning and management experience – literally a push of a button – thanks to AWS.

The current investors including GV (formerly Google Ventures), Icon Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Meritech Capital Partners, and Tech Operators joined the round and also Ionic’s first customer Goldman who initially adopted the Ionic platform was part of the funding round.

Safety and Control in Minutes

AWS is the finest and the strongest cloud computing platform which enables security control along with the establishment of private networks, access control, identity and access management, as well as authentication management.

“The collaboration between Ionic and AWS will open new avenues for customers to achieve quick time to value. Customers of our tenant enterprise and key management services will be able to go from weeks of setup in a traditional managed hosting environment to minutes via AWS Marketplace and 1-Click deployment, even with a hybrid key management environment,” says Ken Silva, Vice President of Technology Operations and Infrastructure, Ionic Security.

Ionic’s technology and AWS infrastructure would be an amalgamation that allows the customers to have a wide range of choices from Ionic’s offerings. The collaboration is going to be beneficial for the enterprises as they would be getting a hand on hybrid services with encryption keys kept in AWS Cloud HSMs or through on premises security module appliances, depending on the necessity of the business.

Ionic tenant enterprise and key management service will be available to be provisioned in minutes via AWS Marketplace for existing Ionic customers in early June. Additional information about these services will be made available at the AWS Public Sector Summit 2016 to be held June 20-21 in Washington DC.
