TATA Elxsi that offers design and service support for creativity ideas into product and solutions has collaborated with communication services provider Avaya with an aim to develop an advanced network solution based on Software Designed Networking (SDN) design that is focused to address service rapidity that is essential for the functioning of IT departments. Both the companies are targeting to develop a SDN Internet of Things (IoT) solution across enterprises.

With this collaboration, Avaya ropes in its SDN Fx Architecture that makes it possible for the network to handle all the functions automatically. It allow devices and users to connect easily, anywhere along the network, and to interact without any hassle. So basically it delivers the simplicity needed to help connect, secure and manage growing number of devices and technologies to reduce breaches, implement innovation rapidly and improve IT staff’s efficiency.

Nitin Pai, SVP –Marketing & Strategy stated

“Tata Elxsi’s SDN technology and engineering teamsworked closely with Avaya’s Product management and R&D, to develop Avaya’s new, open SDN architecture that will help companies create the agile networks required by today’s dynamic applications. Our User Experience design teams designed the management application to be simple and easy-to-use for hospital IT departments, even while building in necessary safeguards. We are delighted to partner with Avaya in extending this innovative platform to other verticals and markets.”

Elxsi claims that SDN and NFV (Network Function Virtualization) is the key for operators to increase revenue by adding more services and SDN/NFV has the ability to deliver large scale networks and services centrally, with significant cost benefits. Tata Elxsi is working with number of global operators and network equipment vendors in integration and verification and Avaya’s SDN Fx solution will integrate with Elxsi to help connect it with vendors. Basically the collaboration will simplify the job of IT departments by automating the core functionality with the deployment of IoT solutions.

Ravi Palaparthi, Sr. Director, R&D, Avaya said, “Given the challenges of today’s networks – particularly with the rise of cloud computing and virtualization, it’s imperative that SDN implementations reach beyond the data center to simplify connectivity and provide the necessary integration between applications and users. With SDN Fx, Avaya is providing the simplicity IT departments hope for by automating the core network and truly unifying applications for users and devices at the network edge.”

Earlier this year in June Avaya launched a new customer engagement platform targeted at SMBs called Workforce Optimization Select, also it introduced Oceana, a multi-touch customer engagement solution for enterprises.
