Motivis Learning launches campus community tool, Unity 2.0

4 MIN READ

Motivis Learning, a Learning Relationship Management (LRM) systems provider has released the latest version of its free campus social community tool. Dubbed as Unity 2.0—a social media platform for higher educational institutions— the tool is built on Salesforce Community by the Salesforce Higher Education Advisory Council (HEAC) in partnership with Motivis Learning.

LRM, says Motivis Learning, is an integrated suite of learning tools clubbed with educational data into a platform that unifies content and communication for students, educators and institutions. Motivis also offers Networking and Social Community platform with Student Information System (SIS), amongst others.

The update has surfaced after the initial launch of Unity, six months ago that apparently allowed users to join groups, manage events, access resources, share news and communicate via a familiar chat feed.

The Salem-based company is of the belief that a strong community is critical to the student experience. While there are a hoard of online tools communication portals and document-sharing technologies, most institutions have settled on email that often cluttered the inbox. Now, with a revamped user interface (UI) Motivis aims at helping students, teachers, administrators and alumni unite, beyond regular mails by a private, branded community. Reportedly, it also combines features of messaging, email, event calendars, feeds, and resource hubs to help both students and educators connect more meaningfully.

Brian Peddle, Founder and CEO, Motivis Learning, said, “We originally created Unity in 2014 in partnership with the Higher Educational Advisory Council to give back to the higher ed community. In keeping with that mission, we have redesigned Unity from the student’s perspective so that institutions can deliver an online community that matches that of an on-campus community.”

“Unity helps students stay connected to their institution from the minute they apply all the way through to becoming an alumni – something that was originally thought to be unobtainable online,” Peddle added.

Unity 2.0 Enhancements

  • The updated tool supports campus community needs with integrated case management and allows users to create, edit, comment on and close cases
  • Matches an institution’s style guide with deeper customization on every page. Users can add logos, images and ad hex colors to all pages, including the login page
  • Keeps users up-to-date on all campus activities from the newly enhanced homepage. Access current feed, upcoming events, current news and twitter all from the homepage

The features were apparently suggested by over 100 institutions that used Unity. Unity 2.0 is currently available for free on Salesforce AppExchange. Users can even consult Motivis Learning’s pro services team for implementation and configuration, claimed Motivis Learning.
