Rooter, a sports digital platform, has partnership with Opta Sports, the sports data company, where the latter will power all data points – including live scores, commentary, and stats – for cricket, football, F1, basketball, and tennis on Rooter, beginning next week during the ICC Champions Trophy.
Rooter and Opta believe that the increase in the number of available real-time data points to around 50 will also significantly enhance the user experience on the platform. Also, Rooters playing the Live Match Prediction game will have convenient access to in-depth match insights, allowing them to make more accurate and data-driven predictions.
“In today’s world of sports, every action is critically analyzed and interpreted through data. The partnership with Opta Sports, which is a global leader in sports data, will transform the user experience on Rooter,” said Piyush Kumar, Founder and CEO, Rooter.
“Exhaustive match insights will assist Rooters in making extremely data-driven predictions, increasing their enjoyment and engagement with the app. With every flick, hit, and miss in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy under intense scrutiny, we are confident that user experience on our platform will reach unparalleled heights,” Kumar added.
To indicate the depth of data that Opta Sports enables, Rooter emphasized that Opta has over 35 data points per delivery of cricket, with a database dating back to 1876. It also offers a collection of over 2500 actions with the ball during a single 90-minute football match. Opta also has partnerships for data analysis with global media companies such as ESPN, Sky Sports, FOX Sports, BBC Sport, beIN Sport, BT Sport, Eurosport, SAP, IBM, Espncricinfo, MSN, Yahoo, as well as teams and franchises such as NZ All Blacks, FC Barcelona, and 19 of 20 Premier League Clubs.
“Since its launch, Rooter has been redefining live sports fan engagement with its differentiated approach. Its user acquisition and engagement numbers are testimony to the appeal of features like Live Match Prediction and chat forums, which have received overwhelming response from its users.
