Berlin headquartered B2B startup, The Saas Co, has secured EUR 800,000 (approximately US$850,000) in seed round — EUR 500,000 from undisclosed telecommunication and logistics companies and a EUR 300,000 grant for promising innovation from the EU.

The company, will use the funds to give a boost to its AI product, LISA (Learning Intelligent Sales Agent). LISA is an email bot based on artificial intelligence and natural language processing, which claims to increase “productivity of salespeople.”

The funding will also be used to improve the product, hire additional talent and to fund marketing.

Peter Schlecht, CEO, The SaaS Co, said:

“Our goal for LISA is simple: to free salespeople from repetitive tasks so they can focus on creative ways to make their sales.”

LISA — available in German and English — categorizes incoming emails and drafts a response. Users simply have to add lisa@salesagent.ai in the bcc or cc field in their emails. LISA analyzes the responses the user receives and categorizes them in folders or with labels, which could be “Positive”, “Negative”, “Forwarded”, “Blacklisted”, “Out 0f Office”, “Follow-up and so on. It subsequently drafts a response on behalf of the user. One can edit the response or simply send the mail.

The company claims that LISA puts the focus back on “hot leads” and does the job of “three sales persons.”

The SaaS Co was founded in April 2014 by Peter Schlecht and was joined the same year by Florian Erlach. Based on Peter’s experience in sales and Florian’s background in finance and operations the duo created a scalable engine for B2B sales. In early 2016, Benjamin Projdakov joined the team as Chief Technology Officer, who was mandated with a clear focus “to automate the sales service in a personal manner.”

The company claims to have a team of 30 members, of which, 17 are IT developers, including experts in machine learning and natural language processing coming from companies like Yandex and Nokia.

It also claims that its clients include big names like Microsoft, Twilio and Deutsche Börse.
