Commvault ropes in Matthew Johnston as Area VP for Korea, ASEAN

New Jersey-based, Information management company, Commvault has announced the appointment of former Dell executive, Matthew Johnston as Area Vice President for Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Korea. Johnston, a sales engineer for over 15 years, will join Commvault with experience in solution selling and enterprise level engagement. And will be responsible for directing Commvault’s sales and marketing operations in ASEAN and Korea. The focus will be on growing strategic partnerships with both customers and channel partners, said the company.
He said, “The technology landscape has changed dramatically. Today, we are handling and managing so much more data in many more formats. My priority at Commvault will be to work with our enterprise and SMB customers to help them gain full visibility of data and information across their entire organization in order to turn their data into a powerful strategic asset.”
Earlier, Johnston chaired roles and responsibilities of a Managing Director for Greater China and General Manager of Solution Sales in Asia Pacific and Japan. Prior to Dell, he has held product management position in Quest Software, which was acquired by Dell and was Practice Manager at Dimension Data. Owen Taraniuk, head of Commvault in Asia Pacific and Japan, said, “Matthew has a proven track record driving growth and leading diverse teams across Asia Pacific and Japan, in some of the industry’s top enterprise software organisations.”
“We are fortunate to have found someone with his calibre to lead the Commvault business in two key markets, ASEAN and Korea. We are confident Matthew will help further extend Commvault’s reach and leadership in data protection and information management in the region,” Taraniuk added.
Founded in 1988, Commvault provides data management software applications and related services. It develops, markets, and sells data management suite to protect and manage data throughout its lifecycle. Reportedly, its applications and solutions offer flexible deployment options and are built on the same platform. Its partners include technology vendors, such as ComSource, Bull, Coraid, Dell, Fujitsu Technology Solutions, HP, Hitachi Data Systems, Microsoft, NetApp, Oracle and VMware. And competes market space with companies like Veeam Software, Symantec and EMC. Earlier, Commvault went public on September 22, 2006 and raised $161.1 Million in its Initial Public Offering.
