Teradata acquires Big Data Partnership to boost hadoop consulting
Ohio-based big data analytics company, Teradata that develops database software and marketing applications for data warehouses has acquired London-based Big Data Partnership that provides EMEA-based big data consulting services and training, for an undisclosed sum. Financial and legal details of the deal haven’t surfaced yet.
The acquisition will potentially bolster Teradata’s open source analytics services and expand its consulting capabilities in providing agile implementation solutions for big data analytics. It also plans to integrate Big Data Partnership into its Think Big professional services division, which itself became a part of the company to boost consulting capability through an acquisition that happened in September, 2014.
According to the company, Big Data Partnership has expertise in disruptive technologies, including Apache Hadoop and its integration will accelerate Think Big’s “expansion of open source consulting services internationally” while generating new business in key European markets including its native UK, France, Germany and the Nordics, Switzerland and China. It could also aid Think Big fight the likes of Cloudera and Hortonworks.

Big Data Partnership was founded in 2012 to capitalize on the rising European demand for Hadoop and has since participated in 2 rounds of funding. In total, Big Data Partnership has raised $6.7 million while its last round of funding was on May 06, 2015 for a total of $4.7 million by Beringea LLC.
