“Padgett brings the perfect combination of enterprise expertise and entrepreneurial spirit to the role, and I couldn’t be happier that he will be leading this new team toward our goal of being the market-leading provider of commerce, financial and ERP services to SMBs.”
solutions provider, SAP has announced the appointment of Barry Padgett as the new president of SAP Business One, SAP Anywhere, and SAP Business ByDesign teams, effective July 1, 2016. Padgett is known to have held various leadership positions since 1997 at an American travel management company, Concur Technologies, including serving as Concur’s chief product officer since 2014. “With customers increasingly expecting real-time service from all companies, regardless of size, SMB business owners need to respond, without having large, internal IT organizations to support their efforts,” said Padgett. “I’m very excited to help drive this new organization focused on meeting the needs of SMBs with front-office and back-office solutions designed specifically for them.” During his time at Concur, Padgett held many prominent roles, the notable ones being the Executive Vice-President and General Manager, EMEA; Vice-President, International Sales and Marketing; Director of Concur’s Asia Pacific region; Director of Consulting Services; and Director of Business Development. Padgett has been in-charge of web-based expense reporting services, launched the end-to-end process of connecting online travel booking and expense reporting, and ran the TripIt business. As Chief Product Officer, his responsibilities included strategising and delivery of all Concur’s products and platform. Hence, his contribution to the SMB segment has been expansive. The software giant believes that due to rapid technology advancements, globalization and a massive leap in customer expectations, there is a rising for small and midsize businesses to operate and compete effectively. This led to the decision of combining the teams for the SAP Business One application, the SAP Anywhere solution and the SAP Business ByDesign solution into one organization to build better front-office and back-office solutions that serve the unique needs of today’s SMBs. “This newly created position highlights the importance of small and midsize businesses to SAP,” said Steve Singh, member of the Executive Board of SAP SE.
