Datapipe to help bolster Bata's e-commerce biz in APAC

Footwear retailer, Bata, has partnered with cloud services provider, Datapipe, to push its e-commerce business in APAC. The latter, as an AWS Premier Consulting Partner, will manage Bata’s cloud deployment and deliver the security, speed, cost-efficiencies, and scalability required for these high-growth markets. Bata’s global sourcing infrastructure is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), and relies on its cloud infrastructure for day-to-day operations including Point of Sale (PoS) system, warehousing, logistics, and purchase order processes. According to an official communique, Datapipe was selected to assist Bata with developing and growing its presence in Asia by unlocking operational efficiencies. Bata claims that it is seeing strong growth in Asia’s multi-billion-dollar footwear market, specifically in India, China and Southeast Asia. It also says that APAC footwear market is projected to reach US$127.2 billion a year by 2020. Jason Singh, Head, Marketing — APAC, Datapipe, said, “With Bata’s rapid growth in emerging markets, the company needed an IT infrastructure that was secure, scalable, and incredibly reliable. We worked closely with Bata to optimize their AWS architecture and practice. This freed up the company’s technology team to focus on other core aspects of its business. As a result, Bata’s focus is where it should be: serving its customers and managing its production facilities, while Datapipe manages its cloud deployments.” Datapipe adopted a two-phased approach to ensure an optimized environment. Datapipe first redesigned Bata’s existing cloud environment based on AWS best practices including platform based security configurations. The second phase will deploy network and instance-based security controls and services, ensuring secure connections to Bata’s e-commerce websites for users in the region. Jeremy Chong, Director, Global Footwear Services, Bata, said, “…Datapipe team has exceeded our expectations, strengthening the security and efficiency of our cloud infrastructure, and allowing us to focus on business growth. Datapipe is the right partner for us as we look to continue to strengthen our foothold in emerging markets while providing our consumers a seamless shopping experience.”
