HTC VIVE X Accelerator program opens its doors for VR startups

Consumer electronics company, HTC Corporation, has announced that its accelerator fund for Virtual Reality startups, VIVE X, is accepting new applications. VIVE X is a $100 million fund for investment in promising VR technologies, and according to the company the fund goes beyond just content creation for VR. HTC claims, apart from financial investment, startups in the program are given the opportunity to work at VIVE X accelerator locations around the world, where they get special access to advanced VR technology, mentorship, networking and hands-on coaching from VR experts. As companies progress through the program, they can participate in VIVE X demo days where they have an opportunity to showcase their products to investors and additional partners, and begin developing their go-to-market solutions. According to the company, VIVE X is building on HTC’s vision for VR as the next mass medium with support for start-ups, providing a variety of new tools and applications that can help grow the VR ecosystem. Currently the accelerator fund has over 30 startups in its portfolio and its partners are developing solutions in areas such as social, analytics, advertising, content generation tools, rendering, search and education.

Companies like ObEN, SurrealVR, Apmetrix, Opaque Studios, which are a part of the program state that the network, knowledge and resources the program provides has enabled companies to accelerate its progress on a number of crucial fronts like product development, insights into the industry, analytics and technical knowledge from the HTC team. HTC claims that VIVE X, which was launched in August of this year in Taipei, San Francisco, Beijing and Shenzhen, is accepting applicants for these locations, with a deadline of 1st December. The company aims to grow the program globally with locations in Europe to be launched soon.
