Washington-based data-visualization software provider Tableau has taken Adam Selipsky on board as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. The seasoned former Amazon Web Services (AWS) executive, will take office next month and Christian Chabot, Co-Founder and current CEO, Tableau, will continue to serve, and sit as Chairman of Board of Directors at Tableau. According to Tableau, Chabot, who served 14 years at the Seattle company, will also “assist the company with long-term strategy and customer evangelism.” A hopeful Chabot believes, “Adam is going to take Tableau to the next level.”
“His experience in making AWS the world’s leading cloud platform, his passion for servicing customers at a global scale, and his authentic team player attitude make him an extraordinary fit for Tableau,” added Chabot, “He is the right person to lead Tableau to the next stage of growth.”
Selipsky left Amazon, a few days earlier, where he was serving as the Vice President, Marketing, Sales and Support. The company claims that he was responsible in helping Amazon grow into the multi-billion dollar, cloud industry it is today, speculation was that he would find himself a better designation. Earlier, he had worked as an executive with RealNetworks, a provider of Internet streaming media delivery software and services. Selipsky said that Tableau has that rare combination of a passionate customer base, leading products, amazingly talented people, dedication to technology innovation, and momentum in the market. The company is positioned to become the new world standard in analytics.
I’m honored to join the leadership team and all the great people that have fueled Tableau’s disruption of business analytics. As we add capabilities for our customers, deepen our enterprise presence, and expand into the cloud, our mission remains unchanged to help people see and understand their data.
In a bet to bolster its management, tableau has also announced a boardroom reshuffle. The company, in a series of promotions said, Chris Stolte, Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer, Tableau, will now pose as Technical Advisor and will be replaced by Andrew Beers to lead the product development team.
