XCMG, a Chinese multinational
Government-owned, heavy machinery manufacturing company has released XCMG-Cloud at bauma China 2016
. According to the company, this is the first industrial cloud platform based on its database and information systems.
For the new cloud platform, the company has partnered with Alicloud
, the cloud computer service provider from Alibaba
. XCMG-Cloud is composed of three platforms – IaaS, the basic platform, PaaS, the core platform, and SaaS, the big data application platform.
“In future, you either own the platform or be owned by it. We built an XCMG-Cloud platform that’s open and safe and easy to share on, and we’ll also be building a new ‘ecosystem’ to lead global technology, set new standards and integrate data with our partners,” explained Yang Yong, Deputy General Manager, XCMG.
“XCMG has established complete global R&D system centers at the XCMG Research Institute, integrating all resources from Europe, the U.S. and Brazil, and also builds adaptive research centers to satisfy client needs,” he added.
In May this year, the company had announced to partner with Alibaba to build the XCMG-Cloud as an industrial cloud platform to share massive data and support further global convergence.
“The internet way of thinking can break down barriers between individuals, companies, industries and countries, and coordinate more resources to establish an ‘ecosystem’ that benefits everyone along the sustainable development path. It’s XCMG’s responsibility to take the first step,” Wang Min, Chairman and President, XCMG had said during the announcement.
With the new cloud platform, the manufacturing company plans to establish a new model for future development of the manufacturing industry that merges internet technologies and a platform-based company, revolutionizing the traditional product and market models that rely heavily on core technologies.
XCMG had launched integral projects in 2009 to upgrade the company’s information system, linking research and development, production and supply chain as well as gathering 150 terabytes of industrial big data. According to the company, the system has now been applied to multiple areas such as intelligent manufacturing, remote diagnosis and after-sales service, and has become the solid foundation to support building the new cloud platform.
