MS veteran John-Paul Burgess joins Aus cloud provider FirstWave

Australian provider of cloud deployment solutions, FirstWave Cloud Technology has swayed a veteran Microsoft player on its side to enhance its growth in enterprise and government sectors. John-Paul Burgess, former Director of Microsoft Global Practices has joined FirstWave as Services Director to help the company build professional services and local support. FirstWave has been a key partner of Telstra Corporation Limited, Australia’s largest telecommunications and media company, since 2007. The company recently reported that an increased deployment of its cloud analytics and content security platforms through enterprises in Australia has led to a “rapid upscaling” of Telstra’s services division.
“John-Paul brings local and regional services experience that will allow us to rapidly deploy, and importantly, locally support our growing cloud platforms with major enterprise and government customers,” FirstWave Cloud Technology, Managing Director, Steve O’Brien, said.
O’Brien said owing to the growing demand for Cloud based security solutions, FirstWave is expanding its service and support teams to meet increasing workload in Australia and the wider Asia regions. Serving the IT services industry for more than 20 years, Burgess brings to the company an experience in building and leading teams in professional and customer services across Australia, New Zealand and Asia for companies such as Microsoft and NCR. During his career, Burgess has built security practices locally, along with leading teams of over 70 Cisco and Microsoft engineers, consultants and project managers throughout the region in a variety of roles.
