ORTEC takes Big Data processing online with new portal
Analytics company, ORTEC Consultancy, has launched an online portal to allow enterprises to to process Big Data. Upload data, process it and download the insights, seems to be the simple mantra. The portal allows enterprises to save on local IT deployments and vendor lock-ins.
The portal provides the required analytical tools and databases — from Hadoop to Spotfire. Excel integrations too are possible. The portal besides data processing and analysis, comes with data storage and “advanced visualization” possibilities. ORTEC claims that the portal provides Analytics as a Service, just like SaaS, allowing users to “focus on insights and output rather than getting involved in IT and process.”
“With the ORTEC Big Data Portal, any company can become data-driven,” stated Patrick Hennen, Managing Director Analytics and Technology at ORTEC Consulting.
“Why struggle with finding the best tooling or building the right technology infrastructure when your business is only interested in improved, data-driven decisions making?”The portal can be used to implement analytics initiatives across departments, including finance, supply chain management, human resources and marketing. It comes with a customizable dashboard. The output of data processing can be directly fetched into ERP systems to “create reports, run forecasts, perform scenario analyses, and get a real-time, holistic view of everything that happens in the supply chain.” ORTEC claims that several businesses and academic institutions are already using the Big Data Portal, and Mooy Logistics, a Netherlands’ retailer is one of its early customers. The portal has been launched on Microsoft’s cloud platform, Azure. The portal, the company claims, makes use of Microsoft Azure Machine Learning for predictive analytics and forecasting. It uses Azure’s Logic apps to connect with a wide range of data suppliers and processors, and leverages Microsoft’s Data Factory and Stream Analytics to ingest and process large quantities of data in real time.
